... The title of this blog has to do with a Will Bruder quote I heard while attending the University of Arizona College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) during the Fall of 1999 - "Learn to master the trash can and you might become something" - It really resonated with me and has stuck with me to this day. I suppose for me the concept hit hard that although you can discard an idea, concept, sketch, design, whatever for a certain project you may be able to revisit it at a later date under different circumstances - In other words designs never die, they evolve, they hibernate, they circle-back but they never die...Or maybe he was just telling us to quit our ideas of becoming Architects and to go live in a public park somewhere; which, given the current state of the industry probably would not have been such a bad idea...

That is what this Blog will be for me - With over a decade in the industry I have come to realize that what I thought I would be doing on a daily basis and what I actually do are pretty darn different - BUT - I still have ideas, I still have hopes and I still have my creativity; So, I figured this would be a good outlet...I will share my thoughts on work and the industry as well as whatever moments of creativity I can muster - And, yes, at the direction of my Wife I will keep the swearing to an absolute minimum.

Cheers...B.

COBAIN...DOOD, CRAP:

... Twenty-three years ago today at 171 Washington Boulevard East in Seattle, Washington Kurt Cobain committed suicide by way of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

Locked in the pretty-much-empty Green House above the detached Garage in his Pacific Northwest Home his Heroin Addiction, Bipolar Disorder, Depression and Fame had taken its toll.

Sad.

Twenty-three years have come and gone.

Here are is a link to some photos of the Crime Scene:

Here is one of his Heroin Kit:

In the years following many debated the validity of the Police Report and the information surrounding Cobain's death; plenty of it centered around these grainy Polaroid Photos - But that - That is not what this post is about.

I am merely here offering memorial to yet another troubled soul who left this world too soon.

Rest in Peace.

Come as you are.

A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY:

... Sooooo, today is Friday - And other than it being a pretty typical gloomy Northern California day - And a Friday - There really is not much going on other than the fact it is Friday.

Did I mention that it is Friday?

Friday.

Yup.

Well - In addition to the fact that it is a rainy Friday it is also exactly one week away from 'Rouge One: A Star Wars Story' hitting theaters...I for one am EXCITED. It is going to be pretty cool actually; just in time for the Holiday Season.

I was not much of a fan of Episode VII - But I am stoked about 'Rouge One.' In a way, it will be a way to see how this whole thing started.

Yes, I know there where prequels. Do I acknowledge them? No. No I do not.

Google the "Ernest Rister Order" or the "Machete Order" if you really want to go hard - George Lucas thought that Star Wars was Anakin's Story...Alas, he was wrong. Anakin Skywalker was a complex and interesting character but not a transcendent one. Not like Luke. Not even a little bit.

Anyway - In celebration of 'Rouge One: A Star Wars Story' being released next week here is some bad-ass Star Wars art Kotaku offered up a while back...Enjoy:

May the Force be with you.

P.S. And I happen to be watching 'The Empire Strikes Back' tonight - The best of the bunch, guys...The best of the bunch.

Sorry, maybe I am just a little TOO excited about 'Rouge One: A Star Wars Story' hitting Theaters later this month...It is finally December after all.
