... The title of this blog has to do with a Will Bruder quote I heard while attending the University of Arizona College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) during the Fall of 1999 - "Learn to master the trash can and you might become something" - It really resonated with me and has stuck with me to this day. I suppose for me the concept hit hard that although you can discard an idea, concept, sketch, design, whatever for a certain project you may be able to revisit it at a later date under different circumstances - In other words designs never die, they evolve, they hibernate, they circle-back but they never die...Or maybe he was just telling us to quit our ideas of becoming Architects and to go live in a public park somewhere; which, given the current state of the industry probably would not have been such a bad idea...

That is what this Blog will be for me - With over a decade in the industry I have come to realize that what I thought I would be doing on a daily basis and what I actually do are pretty darn different - BUT - I still have ideas, I still have hopes and I still have my creativity; So, I figured this would be a good outlet...I will share my thoughts on work and the industry as well as whatever moments of creativity I can muster - And, yes, at the direction of my Wife I will keep the swearing to an absolute minimum.

Cheers...B.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU:

... Did you know that Disney owns Lucasfilm? - Of course you did because you are an educated individual...I mean hey, you read my Blog right? - I think you would have to have been living under a rock for the last couple of years to not have known -  I mean, I guess that is possible; I try not to meddle in your personal affairs...You can live under a rock if you want.

Yes, it is true the House of Mouse purchased Lucasfilm and the rights to the Star Wars Franchise in the fall of 2012 and J.J. Abrams is on board to direct the first of three upcoming Star Wars films that reportedly will involve Luke, Han and Leia's offspring...Well, make that Luke's offspring and Han and Leia's offspring; stop making this weird, okay? - Perv...

The purchase was for $4.05 billion dollars in October of 2012 - That would be "Billion" with a "B" - Not a bad haul for old George and his weird facial hair and turkey neck - #AmIRight? - Seriously though, the dude has a weird neck...It really is weird looking...Right? - I mean, RIGHT???

... Anyway, here are some of the best Disney-themed Star Wars images I have found circulating around the old interwebs since the purchase:

... Not bad, eh? - But that is not the real purpose of this post; I wanted to share the link below which I think is super cool.

Okay, here goes - If you are a 'Fanboy' or even a casual observer of the original six films then you are probably familiar with Luke Skywalker's home planet of Tatooine; pretty desolate planet actually - Large expanses of sand, three red moons, blue milk available on the dinner table, etc...Well, those scenes were filmed in Tunisia and a lot of the actual structures still stand today.

It really is true! - But wait...There is more!!!

You can travel to Tunisia and see these elements that were meant to be in "Galaxy Far, Far Away" up close and personal...Well, I mean, I suppose you could if you were not worried about the violence, unrest and general hatred for Americans in that portion of the continent; assuming you are American.

Honestly I have no idea who reads this Blog...Maybe a bunch of Tunisians?

BUT - If you did elect to visit Tunisia you would be just a stones throw from Libya and Egypt (...pun intended) - Anyway, without further ado, here is the hyperlink for your viewing enjoyment:

... If you do take the time to view the content provided via the link above I recommend you open Google Earth or Google Maps in a secondary window because the website lists the actual longitudes and latitudes of each structure and you can simply past them into Earth/Maps and Google will fly you right to each site - Once again proving that Google is the balls!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy...Peace, and "May the Force be with You..."
Hot Mama
