... The title of this blog has to do with a Will Bruder quote I heard while attending the University of Arizona College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) during the Fall of 1999 - "Learn to master the trash can and you might become something" - It really resonated with me and has stuck with me to this day. I suppose for me the concept hit hard that although you can discard an idea, concept, sketch, design, whatever for a certain project you may be able to revisit it at a later date under different circumstances - In other words designs never die, they evolve, they hibernate, they circle-back but they never die...Or maybe he was just telling us to quit our ideas of becoming Architects and to go live in a public park somewhere; which, given the current state of the industry probably would not have been such a bad idea...

That is what this Blog will be for me - With over a decade in the industry I have come to realize that what I thought I would be doing on a daily basis and what I actually do are pretty darn different - BUT - I still have ideas, I still have hopes and I still have my creativity; So, I figured this would be a good outlet...I will share my thoughts on work and the industry as well as whatever moments of creativity I can muster - And, yes, at the direction of my Wife I will keep the swearing to an absolute minimum.

Cheers...B.

BEAUTIFUL U.S. CELLULAR FIELD:

... Well the World Series starts tonight - And although as a Whitesox Fan this time of year has been typically reserved for things like contemplating how the Keebler Elves are able to actually bake cookies with a gas-fired oven within a hollowed-out Oak tree and not have to pay some sort of serious insurance premium...

- OR -

... Simply pondering whether Q uses any sort of styling product for his mustache; I mean come on Blackhawks Fans that thing is nice, right??? - October Baseball is really one of the best things in professional sports and it is a shame that Chicago does not get to experience it often enough.

I still remember The 2005 Winter Classic - The year that the Whitesox caught lightning in a bottle and were able to bring home a championship for the first time since 1917...It was a magical time and one that I am sure Kansas City Fans are cherishing currently.

People say that Baseball is dead - That the game is too slow...Unable to get out of its own way - AND - I assume in part perhaps some of that may be true. In a society where we crave instant gratification and single-servings of fun maybe the nuances of Baseball are lost on the masses.

Maybe...Maybe not.

... Anyway, enjoy the World Series - I for one will be rooting for the Royals - Because I for one like teams that catch lightning in a bottle.

Now sit back, relax and strap it down...Is it Spring Training yet?

... What? - Hope springs eternal, right???

Go, Go Whitesox,
Good Guys Wear Black,
Hot Mama
