POOT POOT STRIKES AGAIN:
... AND WITH THAT - Baseball is over for another year.
The San Francisco Giants won their third Fall Classic in five years by beating the Kansas City Royals in an exciting Game 7 that pretty much came down to the wire...It was a good Series; although the ratings would probably state otherwise. Sports pundits everywhere were scratching their heads about the low ratings - "No one wants to see the Giants win it all again" - "No one cares about Kansas City" - "Blah...Blah...Blah."
... Well, I for one cannot wait for Whitesox Spring Training and another year of unrealistic expectations and zero run support for Chris Sale - Poor dude.
So, in honor of another year of Baseball in the books and another Championship for San Francisco (...although I was rooting for the Royals to win it all - But honestly, I did not have an overwhelming opinion either way) I would like to offer you some *NEW* Minimalist Sports Themed Artwork.
I have shared S.Preston's work before but here are a few new prints highlighting the original famous "Exploding Scoreboard" from the original Comiskey Park where my beloved Whitesox played for years before moving into what was then [also] called Comiskey Park and now is known as U.S. Cellular Field.

ALL THIRTY NBA COURTS - RANKED:
... Hey look you guys, the NBA is back!!! - So I guess that's pretty cool. Final preseason games are wrapping-up this weekend and the actual season starts next week - In honor of this momentous occasion Grantland took the time to rank the court design for all thirty teams...Here is the link:
Glad to see that my Bulls placed relatively well and near the top of the list at number five - AND - That Urban Legend about Phil and Tex ordering the placement of the four Bull heads opposite the free throw lines as a visual identification point for wing players to set-up the Triangle Offense is pretty dang cool - I wonder if it is actually true?

The Hornets' new court design earns high marks with this subtle honeycomb look and the striking teal border - This is pretty nifty; I for one am glad the Teal and Purple are back in Charlotte:
Toronto's court design is nice too - I like the greyish/silver text contrasted with the black background bordering the court...Looking sharp - BUT - Question...What exactly does "We the North" mean?" - I feel like it should say "We are the North" or "We are in the North" - Wacky Canadians:
The Lakers won this beauty contest followed closely by Boston - Typical - And the last place team is...Yup, you guessed it - Cleveland.
... I have to say, their court design it is pretty terrible and honestly Cleveland's entire franchise is SCREAMING for a re-brand.
Talk about BORNING!
It is almost like a bunch of fat-cat, white Ohio Executives sat around a wide mahogany conference table asking themselves just how 'meh' they could make that team look...And then they simply slapped a gigantic 'C' in the center of the court and drove home to their homes in the suburbs in their Lincoln Continentals...Yawn:

BEAUTIFUL U.S. CELLULAR FIELD:
... Well the World Series starts tonight - And although as a Whitesox Fan this time of year has been typically reserved for things like contemplating how the Keebler Elves are able to actually bake cookies with a gas-fired oven within a hollowed-out Oak tree and not have to pay some sort of serious insurance premium...

... Simply pondering whether Q uses any sort of styling product for his mustache; I mean come on Blackhawks Fans that thing is nice, right??? - October Baseball is really one of the best things in professional sports and it is a shame that Chicago does not get to experience it often enough.
I still remember The 2005 Winter Classic - The year that the Whitesox caught lightning in
a bottle and were able to bring home a championship for the first time since
1917...It was a magical time and one that I am sure Kansas City Fans are cherishing
currently.
People say that Baseball is dead - That the game is too
slow...Unable to get out of its own way - AND - I assume in part perhaps some
of that may be true. In a society where we crave instant gratification and
single-servings of fun maybe the nuances of Baseball are lost on the masses.
Maybe...Maybe not.
... Anyway, enjoy the World Series - I for one will be rooting for the
Royals - Because I for one like teams that catch lightning in a bottle.
Now sit back, relax and strap it down...Is it Spring Training yet?
